The business venture I have conceptualized is Rent A Scooter. I believe Rent A Scooter is a great business idea around large universities. The customers we would be attracting would be students. From the data I have collected on previous assignments on asking random students survey questions on my concept, I have come to the conclusion that transportation around campus has become a problem. According to students, parking on campus is impossible. Parking has lead to tardies in classes and parking tickets. There are many times I wish I could rent a scooter on campus to get to my destination. The feed back I received on my Venture Concept No. 1 was very helpful.
I received comments that stated that they believed that my venture concept would thrive around college towns and that it had a lot of potential. Another person commented saying that they liked my concept but suggests that I add renting bikes to my store. Almost every person commented on how expensive it is for not only students but teachers too to park on campus!
Based on the feedback I received I have thought about different ways to go about the price of Renting A Scooter. I was thinking possibly $5 on hour. I don't think that is too expensive. I also would really want to initiate the monthly membership. Those who buy a monthly membership pay less per hour than those that don't have a monthly membership. I don't know the specific cost yet for that but I think it is a good idea.

ReplyDeleteI have heard a similar renting service for bikes in Gainesville. The bike renting company charges people by semester. If you do something similar to this I think the paying process will be easier. I think your idea has the demand. However, there is a lot of liabilities with making a scooter renting service work. Make sure you know what to do for maintenance and possible replacements for the scooters. Thanks for sharing!

ReplyDeleteI am personally one that would definitely find this idea very useful, parking in campus is a complete nightmare! I think the membership would be very convenient because $5/hr might not seem like a not but it adds up real quick, also adding an insurance fee would be a good idea because you never know what could happen. Overall great job, the idea is genius.

Hey, Andrea! I like your idea a lot, and there is definitely a market for this business. Like Tonis previously mentioned, you would have to figure out how to deal with the liabilities and possible repairs. I suppose each renter could sign a contract which holds them liable for the condition of the scooter during the time it is in their possession. This kind of clause may be a turn off and cost you business, however. But all in all, great idea and great post!
