This week I found a campus community problem and interviewed random people on this issue.
Opportunity: Better Parking
~I believe parking is a huge problem on campus at University of Florida that has potential to be fixed due to the amount of students affected by this issue. Most students are affected by parking or know of someone who is affected by parking on campus.
~ So I interviewed University of Florida students because I felt that they were the most affected by parking on campus. I didn't interview faculty members because most if not all of the limited parking space goes to them. I understand that it is important to have parking for teachers and employees but students parking needs should not be ignored. Students have close to none parking spaces on campus.
~ I came up with a list of questions that I think would suit any random student I asked. Here are the videos of my interview.
- Do you own a car on campus?
- Would you say parking on campus is a hassle?
- on average how many classes do you miss a week?
- Do you think you would miss less classes if parking on campus was easier?
- Does parking restrict you from doing anything you would normally do?
- Would you pay for better parking on campus?
Interview #1:
~I was very nervous about interviewing customers. I could tell the interviewees were also nervous. However, after the third customer I was comfortable in asking question and I even tailored my questions specifically to whether a student owned a car or not. For example: If a student didn't own a car I asked if they knew anyone that was having trouble with parking. My questions were becoming better suiting to each person.
Unfortunately, I'm unable to view your videos for some reason. However, I think this is an issue everyone can agree needs attention. I really like that you were able to make your questions more specific and learned from each experience. Your questions directly addressed the problem and I think they brought up very good points, such as asking if someone would pay for better parking. This is really important because it shows the level of need for better parking. Great job! ReplyDeleteHi Andrea,
ReplyDeleteI believe that the opportunity you describe will solve a huge issue for UF students. Parking is a major concern for many students in UF since there are very limited spots available. I was not able to watch any of your interviews for some reason. However, I think that the unmet need you discovered is essential and it can help every UF student. I had the same experience as you did while interviewing people. I think that the only way we can improve this is by practicing with more interviews. Please take a look to what I believe is an unmet need and feel free to comment if you wish.
