Hello Bloggers! Today I found 5 problems connected to either a person or a company from my hometown. My hometown is three hours away and is named Bradenton. The local newspaper in Bradenton is the Bradenton Herald, which is where I found my articles.
1st Opportunity:
- Title: Bradenton Mayor Wayne Poston will seek fifth term
- Link: http://infoweb.newsbank.com/resources/doc/nb/news/15A7E841CB84C6B8?p=AWNB
Description: In this story reporter Mark Young reviews in detail Mayor Wayne accomplishments in the 16 years he has been in office. From the article, I am able to conclude that Mayor Wayne accomplished a lot during his term. Mr Wayne has contracted with the Pittsburgh Pirates to bring attraction and recognition to Bradenton. In addition he has build several hotels and has build up downtown Bradenton. The problem for Mayor Wayne was presented at the end of the article. Mayor Wayne is not the only person running for election. Mayor Wayne's opponent Eleuterio "Junior" Salazar has many accomplishments himself and poses a threat to Wayne's re-election.
2nd Opportunity:
- Title: Bradenton Housing Authority strengthens position against Bradenton Village Apartments manager Telesis Corp.
- Link: http://infoweb.newsbank.com/resources/doc/nb/news/15A89103EEE923D8?p=AWNB
Description: Telesis Corp. a managing company over apartments was not responding for several years to deadlines set by Bradenton Housing Authority (BHA) about financial reports. Telesis responded after the deadline and founder/president Marilyn Melkonian personally went to Bradenton to fix the situation herself and ensure good communication. One of the main problems that lead to this fiasco was former BHA executive director Wenston DeSue. DuSue was convicted of theft of federal funds during his time as director and was not handling Telesis Corp in the manner that should have been. The problem now resides in BHA Executive Director Ellis Mitchell Jr who was hired in November 2014 and Melkonian president of Telesis to ensure that matter sail smoothly from now on.
3rd Opportunity:
- Title: Sunshine Sky way Bridge reopened after storms with cold front move through Manatee County.
- Link: http://infoweb.newsbank.com/resources/doc/nb/news/15A8E56345883AB0?p=AWNB
Description:
Manatee county authorities and Florida Highway Patrol are holding their breaths due to severe cold fronts. Near the gulf coast winds can get fierce and difficult and for this reason authorities take measures and close bridges and at time flights have to be cancelled. Unfortunatly after Winter Storm Jonas hit this past Friday, the Florida highway patrol had to close the Sunshine Sky way Bridge. In addition, there were 52 flight cancellations and 34 delays as of Friday morning at Tampa International Airport. With more winter storms like Jonas on pursuit, bridges might close again and more flights might be cancelled.
4th Opportunity:
- Title: Manatee County unemployment rate drops below national
- Link: http://infoweb.newsbank.com/resources/doc/nb/news/15A8E5635B207158?p=AWNB
Description: Manatee County unemployment rates are at an all time low. Thought the Florida unemployment rate remains at 5.0 Manatee County unemployment rates continue to fall. Manatee County's unemployment rate is at a 3.2. As years go by the labor force in Manatee county continue to shrink. This big problem of unemployment needs to be handled by Manatee County officials.
5th Opportunity:
- Title: Pesticide explosion at Palmetto business briefly shuts down U.S 41

It was really interesting seeing you take stories from the Bradenton area.I myself am from the Tampa area, so it was neat hearing about something close to home. It does look like you had some formatting issues before your 5th story. I know Blogger can have issues with that from time to time, especially when it comes to adding photos to your post.
ReplyDeleteBradenton is a very nice place to live, my companies corporate office is located there. I find it interesting that people still push the idea of global warming when we continue to have extremely cold winters, but thats a conversation for another day. Unemployment seems to be an issue ever since the economy went down. I enjoyed your post.
